Astoria, Oregon
It may simply be a small town on the northwestern tip of Oregon. It may be cloudy, rain-soaked, and moss-covered for most of the year. It may even be the place that, as a foolish teenager growing up there and hoping for a future full of wealth and adventure, I most wanted to leave behind me. However with my years advancing and the grey creeping ever-more deeply into my beard, it is the one place in this world to which I would most like to return with my family and spend the remainder of my Earthly existence – if only I could find a way to do so.

That’s just the way it is, John. A piece of our heart is always left in the place of our birth. Like you, I always wanted to leave my home in the South, but over time I realized it’s exactly where I wanted to hang my hat. It completes me, and I see a beauty here that captivates. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, but I’m always ready to come home.
