During certain times of the year at the northernmost tip of the Willamette Valley where I make my home, it seems that no telephone wire next to an open field is complete without an American Kestrel perched upon it. However while many who live within the range of these colorful little falcons can readily identify them, few seem to know much more about them than what they look like.

Which is why I was so pleased to learn of the publication of Kate Davis’ American Kestrel: Pint-sized Predator by Mountain Press Publishing – so that more people might have the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating lives and habits of these remarkable little birds.
