The bird, its posture, the light, the background – all the good karma you’ve accrued over many years of diligent study and work is cashed in all at once as the price of admission to witness the perfect photographic moment. My souvenir of that moment? This image of a Caspian Tern, Hydroprogne caspia, flying over the lower Columbia River near Pier 39 in Astoria, Oregon.

Wow! Beautiful capture! It’s wonderful to display a photo you’re really proud of, isn’t it? At least, that’s what I hear . . .
As Bobby Dylan wrote, “Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody
when I paint my masterpiece.”
So, is everything “smooth like a rhapsody?” (Not that you don’t have additional masterpieces to come.)

Yet another gorgeous photo that makes me regret not taking photography classes in college. I’m beginning to think every birder should take those classes! I may still take one through a community ed program…
