A sizeable portion of this past fortnight’s noteworthy natural history book podcasts have a decidedly medieval flavour to them.
Ancient technology, clouds, bogs, and natural history study in general – this week’s noteworthy podcasts offer a delightfully wide-ranging collection of interviews with the authors of recently published books on these subjects.
Begun in 2020 with Dr. Kostas Kampourakis’ “Understanding Evolution” (now in its second edition), the Understanding Life series numbers twenty-six volumes – or at least it will with the publication of Dr. Han Yu’s “Understanding Visuals in the Life Sciences” later this month.
While there are multiple methods of organizing a reading of Plato’s works, I am planning to follow (generally, at least) the one presented in the chapter “Introduction to the Study of Plato” from “The Cambridge Companion to Plato,” 2nd Edition, a book that I shall also be reading along with my reading of Plato’s works themselves in order to deepen my understanding.
