I've been following Jon's work for a few years - have taken a couple of the courses his school offers, have purchased books and recordings. His series about bird language is fascinating stuff - I have the CDs and the DVD and have been on the waiting list for this book for a couple months. Should be good. And we are very fortunate where I work to have one of Jon's students/fellow instructors coming out in April to teach a workshop on bird language.

Thank you, John Riutta, for this lovely mention. I cannot wait until the book is in your hands. It more than lived up to my expectations in beauty, heft and quality. : ) March is coming soon!

A good question Norm - and one I asked. The original model will be designed for Meopta and similarly sized eyepeices. Additional models are apparently to follow for those sizes which might not be compatible with the original design. From what I could tell, the Meopta eyepiece is a little smaller in diameter than the "big three" but as this will be a patented design, Meopta will likely want to be able to sell he adapter across as many brands as possible.

How do they accommodate the different size eyepieces for the different scopes?

Very good to hear Chris - thanks! The advance copy arrived just this past Friday so I've barely have time to do more than glance through it yet. However from what I've seen thus far I am in full agreement with all your comments about it. Wishing you safe travels and much success on your trip.

John,

I hjave just bought this for my trip to India in less than a fortnight's time. I have been to India three times before and have had the Grimmett & Inskipp previous edition of this book and the Kazimierczak book too. This new book is a huge improvement on both of the other titles. New illustration plates and updated distribution maps with the species descriptions opposite the illustrations. Mine will get plenty of use in February
