The BBC’s Best of Natural History podcast series “Shared Planet” recently recorded a special episode at the Hay Festival titled “Nature and the Written Word,” in which an assembled panel composed of Ralph Pite, professor of English literature at University of Bristol, poet Annalise Emmans Dean, and Patrick Barkham, natural history writer for The Guardian and author of The Butterfly Isles (a book reviewed very favorably in The Well-read Naturalist) discussed the ways in which the natural world has been and presently is portrayed in literature.
