Recently Noted Reviews
This past week has been a relatively active one in regard to commentary and reviews of recently published natural history books.
Grant over at The Birder’s Library has a new review of Bridget Stutchbury’s The Private Lives of Birds: A Scientist Reveals the Intricacies of Avian Social Life (Walker & Co.).
Over at The Drinking Bird, Nate reviewed one of the most recent additions to The Princeton Illustrated Checklist series, in this case Birds of the West Indies by Normon Arlott.
Ian at The Birdbooker Report has overviews of three new titles concerning, respectively, geese, raptors, and marine mammals.
Ian has also teamed up with GrrlScientist at Mantiraptora to publish a Birdbooker Report on that site (#132 in the series). This present edition provides commentaries on new titles that discuss petrified forests, the dinosaur mural at Yale, the dating of fossils, vetebrate fossils of Florida, and, in a bit of a divergence from the theme, the bats (not fossilized but presently existing ones) of Florida.
